Day 3: Steeples to Slots...600 Miles...No UFOs

Good thing we burned those CDs.  This is what it looks like just West of Lubbock as you head NW up US84 to Clovis, NM:
Flat.
A daunting site.
Lots of agriculture. Pecans. Cotton. Cotton Gins. Corn Mills. Cattle - dairy & beef. Beef Processing Plants.  Various other beaten down Mill-like structures. Towns with names like Lariat, Muleshoe and Shallow Water "where pride runs deep."
So many Church billboards turned into so many Indian Casino billboards.  They should ban billboards (or at least limit them).  Closer to Lubbock it was gospel stations on the radio. As I drove deeper into New Mexico it was Casinos. Just past the Arizona line you should check out Navajo Nation on 660 AM.

West of Albuquerque the elevation increased. The Scenery improved. So much so that I reached for the camera several times...and swerved dramatically, then over-corrected. When I stopped to take that picture on the way to Lubbock, I forgot to put the truck in park. Quite the scene - me running  down the shoulder and jumping in the slow rolling vehicle. Did I mention I get a little scatterbrained?
Ok. Question of the Day! (stealing a line from Wine Library TV's Gary Vaynerchuk). What do you think is a good driving song?
I like the ones that you can scream the lyrics. Yelling right at the windsheild. No one around to offend.  I think I picked a couple of good ones.  The Cure - Just Like Heaven.  Live - Lightning Crashes. Led Zeppellin - Fool in the Rain.  The Killers - Mr Brightside.
There's a Louisiana girl I like. Lelia Broussard. Check out "I'm Not Waiting."  And the last 2 tracks on Matchbox 20 - can't remember the names (it is getting late).
But, I definitely need some suggestions.  Can't believe I didn't burn some Buddy Holly.  Oh well, in the morning I will make a new CD.  Three states and 600 miles can wear you out on any artist.

I'll leave you with this. Click on pics for a bigger, clearer version.
